EDITOR'S LETTER:

Innovation is nothing new in mountain resorts, but as climate change reduces the ski season by a few days each year, hoteliers are forced to offer alternative activities for non-skiers and days when skiing isn’t possible. From dogsledding expeditions in Courchevel to helicopter flights in Andermatt, we’ve rounded up some unique Alpine experiences in the hope that even non-skiers among you will find inspiration (page 48). One man who knows plenty about innovation is One&Only Resorts president and COO Philippe Zuber, whose company has been at the forefront of ultra-luxury hospitality since its launch in 2002. I caught up with him in Cannes at the International Luxury Travel Market (ILTM) to chat about One&Only’s new brand architecture, the changing image of business travel and the process of creating a new resort from a blank canvas (page 44). As a media partner of ILTM, we’re proud to be part of an occasion that succinctly captures the mood of the luxury travel world and influences the way in which we think about what that term means in an ever-changing environment. So here’s to the next chapter: bring it on, 2018.
