EDITOR'S LETTER:

IT’S A HEATED OFFICE DEBATE... WOULD YOU PREFER TO ENCOUNTER THE BIG FIVE OR THE BIG FOUR? Most of us are familiar with the African safari concept: attempting to sight a lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and the increasingly elusive rhino – surely a life-changing experience. The latter, however, is a phrase we’ve coined to represent the quartet of Indian Ocean destinations (page 52).

The cover story is one of our largest features to date, exploring some Indian Ocean gems, but we’ve managed to spotlight a trio of other summertime destinations. I had the immense pleasure of visiting Monaco for the first time, with an incredible stay at the newly opened Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo (page 82), which has triumphantly emerged from a four-year makeover.

Elsewhere, we bring you Bentley’s magnificent new Continental GT (page 118), a peek at the latest Longines timepiece (page 114) and got acquainted with designer and philanthropist Tory Burch (page 34) for a discussion on travel and the influence of her restless parents.

We hope you enjoy the issue. And whenever you find yourself in doubt, just book the ticket.
