The Residence, an ultra-luxe three-bedroom suite aboard Etihad’s A380 flights is so far “sold out”, according to the airline.
The UAE national carrier has sold out the flying suite on its first 10 flights, complete with double beds, private bathrooms and Savoy-trained butlers.
Bookings have completely bucked the trend of the usual 50 percent occupancy rate for the airline’s First Class offerings, CEO James Hogan told reporters in Dubai this week.
Looks spacious? This is just the lounge area. The Residence also has an en-suite bathroom and double bed.
“We’ve been quite happy with the take-up,” said Hogan, adding: “There’s a market there.”
The Residence's US $20,000 price tage will cover just a one-way leg of the eight-hour trip and allows for dual occupancy.
Etihad’s maiden A380 flight will take off from Abu Dhabi International Airport December 27, flying to London. The airline has 10 superjumbos on order and will deploy other planes to serve Sydney and New York later next year.
