As part of a collaborative effort between Louis Vuitton's studio and style director Kim Jones and offbeat British artists Jake and Dinos Chapman, Louis Vuitton has unveiled a new, travel-inspired range of garments and totes for men.
The range has been influenced by Jones’ personal experience travelling through Bhutan, combining baroque floral prints with unique artistic designs to encapsulate the mystery of the Himalayas.
Many of the garments, which range from cashmere suits and bow ties to velvet evening slippers, are intricately embossed with twisted, re-imagined animals – a theme that has featured strongly in the Chapman brothers’ award-winning artwork.
Verging on the macabre, the styling of the range is strongly inspired by a lust to travel and a desire to see the world in its many forms.
“I’ve always travelled – I’ve travelled since I was three months old … I love going to new countries, I love going to new places. There’s very few places in the world I would not go back to,” Jones told The Independent.
Alongside intricate, travel-inspired designs, the range makes use of skins and furs from across the globe, including beaver, fox and reindeer.
Prices range from US $155 for a pocket square to $20,000 for a red leather travel case.
