Expected to open in summer 2023, Viceroy at Ombria Resort, in the Algarve, Portugal is the first Viceroy property in Southern Europe. Nestled in the bucolic, lush green hills of Portugal’s Algarve region, the sumptuous and secluded resort will feature 76 luxe guestrooms and suites, 65 residences, and a landmark 18-hole golf course – all surrounded by miles of citrus groves, fig and carob trees, small farms, and inland villages with cobblestone streets. The interior design of the hotel is by Wimberly Interiors, while Portuguese architects from Promontório were at the helm of the hotel’s architecture and landscaping, as well as the design concept of the buildings. Conceived as an elegant Portuguese villa the hotel will reflect interior Algarve and its traditional towns. Respecting the region’s cultural traditions and embracing the local artisans and their knowledge of materials, honed over the years, is at the core of the design philosophy. Hand-plastered walls will evoke memories of traditional Portuguese design, while the blue and white patterned colour scheme pays homage to traditional tiles scattered across the country that are inspired by local origins. The resort will feature a modern spa with a robust wellness programme, as well as restaurants which will blend the talents of world-class chefs with regional produce.
