It’s time to bid adieu to booking separate tickets if you are flying from Abu Dhabi to one of those dreamy islands in the Maldives thanks to a new partnership between Etihad Airways and Maldivian.
The agreement between the two airlines means that UAE travellers only have to book a single ticket to fly to one of 16 islands of the Indian Ocean archipelago. It also means that should you be flying to the likes of Dharavandhoo Island, Kooddoo Island, Kadhdhoo Island via Velana International Airport, Malé, you won’t have to collect your luggage, check-in again or go through security.

For Maldivian travellers, the benefits of the partnership mean they can use Abu Dhabi as a stopover before going on their onward journey.
And if that isn’t big enough news, an announcement that Etihad will be increasing its services to the Maldives from 10 to 14 times per week starting on January 1, 2024, is surely enough to put the Indian Ocean idyll top of your travel To Do list.

“Guests bound for the Maldives will enjoy the privilege of arriving at their popular holiday destinations with greater ease,” says Arik De, Etihad’s CRO. “Facilitated by smooth connections from Malé, Etihad customers can easily transition to Maldivian’s services, reaching a wide range of domestic destinations to begin their idyllic island retreat.”

The destinations Etihad guests can access on Maldivian’s network:
• Dharavandhoo Island • Faresmathoda Airport • Funadhoo Airport • Fuvahmulak Island Airport • Gan Island Airport • Kooddoo Island • Hanimaadhoo Island Airport • Kulhudhuffushi Airport • Hoarafushi Airport • Kaadedhdhoo Island Airport • Kadhdhoo Island • Madivaru Airport • Maafaru International Airport • Maavarulu Airport • Thimarafushi Airport • Ifuru.
