South Korea’s Jeju Shinhwa World is already set to be one of the country’s largest resort complexes, with a theme park, spa, retail facilities and more spread across a 2.5-million-sqm site on the island destination – but it’s also shaping up to be one of the most luxurious. Four Seasons Resort Jeju Island has just been announced as one of Jeju Shinhwa World’s hotels, providing approximately 240 (predictably lavish) guest rooms, suites and villas. Details on the property are currently sparse and an estimated opening date has yet to be announced, but the spa already has our interest piqued, with a design said to be inspired by a traditional Korean teahouse. Jeju Shinhwa World will open in phases over the next couple of years with the first attractions, such as the theme park and retail, to begin welcoming guests from later this year. Even if you decide to visit before the destination is fully complete, there’s still plenty to see and do, from UNESCO sites, underground lava caves and lush landscapes to Korea’s highest mountain peak, as well as the world-class Jeju Food & Wine Festival taking place each spring.
