The UK’s Glastonbury Festival welcomed a lavish residence last weekend, courtesy of Pop-Up Hotel.
Aside from several fallow years, the mega music event has taken place since 1970, when 14 people clubbed together some money to build a stage for the then-named Pilton Festival. At the time, tickets cost just GBP 1.
Now in 2014, Glastonbury tickets are some of the most sought after of the summer season, selling out in minutes and retailling at more than GBP 200 (US $340) a pop. Despite this high price, the event had become synonymous with “roughing it” – until now.
Pop-Up Hotel’s Tenthouse Suite has done away with the muddy malaise of the stereotypical camping experience, with its fresh linen, en suite bathing and steady power supply.
The whole on-site hotel complex was comprised of 150 canvas tents, but the 2,000-square-foot Tenthouse Suite was the foremost luxury offering, available for $15,241 during the five-night festival.
During the festival, the site offered a range of facilities, including a 200-seat restaurant, bar, luxury shower and make-up areas and spa, fully stocked with Elemis beauty treatments and ‘milk-shake’ hair remedies.
