If you think wearing a tracksuit in public is the ultimate fashion faux pas, think again. Sportswear giant Nike has teamed with legendary Savile Row fashion designer Ozwald Boateng to create the world’s first formal, tailored tracksuit – the Nike N98 Suit.
Designed exclusively for Brazil’s 2014 World Cup squad, the made-to-measure two-piece has brought a touch of gentlemanly class pitch side, where the suit’s effortlessly stylish appeal and one-of-a-kind design has not gone unnoticed.
Combining the best of both worlds, the N98 boasts the ribbed cuffs, laser-cut vents and embossed detailing of Nike’s signature tracksuits, while its narrow lapels, jetted pockets and luxurious lining are more commonly found on the world’s best tailored suits.
"One of the things I was very particular about was how the sporting elements were executed on the tailoring cloth," iconic London tailor, Ozwald Boateng told The Telegraph.
"It had to be really beautifully done. Even how the badge is attached and the balance with the Swoosh. That was very important."
Unfortunately, unless you play for the Brazil, you won’t be getting your hands on a tailored tracksuit anytime soon. Luckily for sportswear enthusiasts, Nike has not ruled out putting the N98 on sale to the public in the future.
