Emirati equestrian Abdullah Humaid Al Muhairi broke the speed record on the closing night of the Diriyah Equestrian Festival - a sporting event in which the Kingdom unites equestrians from all over the world to compete to secure a qualification at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and the Equestrian World Cup.

It’s the first ever international four-star equestrian competition to take place in Saudi, and it wrapped up its first weekend with winners from Saudi, the UAE, Jordan and Egypt.
Closing the first weekend’s action, saw 18-international equestrians compete for the Big Tour Final, in which two speed records were broken. The first, by Saudi jockey, DEF host and Olympic bronze medal winner, Ramzy Al Duhami with 34.79, quickly followed by Emirati jockey Abdullah Humaid Al Muhairi, and his mare Cha Cha Cha, with an impressive 34.67 seconds, slicking Ramzy’s prior record by .12 of a second.

The festival returns again from December 19-21, so saddle up and continue to watch the event that places Saudi on the map as a state-of-the-art equestrian host.
