Marriott International is set to redefine the high-end safari experience in Kenya with the upcoming opening of two luxury tented camps: The Ritz-Carlton, Masai Mara Safari Camp and the JW Marriott Mount Kenya Rhino Reserve Safari Camp. Together, they mark a significant expansion of the brand’s presence in Africa’s luxury wilderness space.
The Ritz-Carlton, Masai Mara is scheduled to open in August 2025, bringing elevated design and discreet service to one of the world’s most iconic safari destinations. Positioned above the Sand River on a secluded island, the treetop camp promises uninterrupted views of wildlife along the riverbanks and a front-row seat to the Great Migration.

The property will feature 20 tented suites, including a four-bedroom presidential option, with private plunge pools, alfresco showers and thoughtfully designed social spaces.

Further north, at the foot of Mount Kenya, the JW Marriott camp will open in early 2026 within the Solio Game Reserve. Known for its rhino conservation efforts, the reserve offers rare opportunities to witness both white and black rhinos in their natural habitat. The camp will house 20 spacious tents, a spa, JW Garden and a sky deck for dining under the stars. Activities will include horse safaris, guided nature walks and quad biking across the plains.
