Chef Michael Caines MBE has been delighting the palates of Britain’s foodies for years with fine-dining establishments peppering England in ABode hotels, locally sourced food in grand, converted properties and, most notably, as executive head chef at two-Michelin-starred Gidleigh Park since 1994. Now residents of the UAE will have the opportunity to savour the chef’s dishes without hopping on a flight with Pearls by Michael Caines, which opened on October 1.
The first restaurant that Caines has given his name to outside of the UK, Pearls promises the chef’s modern-European cuisine with expansive views of Abu Dhabi’s islets from the restaurant’s floor-to-ceiling glass windows. The fare draws inspiration from the Arabian Gulf region, which is as eclectic as its diverse population.
“The location of this stunning restaurant, with its independent entrance, will make it one of Abu Dhabi’s top dining destinations,” says Caines of the Jumeriah at Etihad Towers venue. “It is hugely exciting to be able to bring to this special place my concept of dazzling food, sensational beverages, perfect service and gracious hospitality in a relaxing and beautiful setting.”
Looking to offer a more casual dining experience to diners, the concept is aimed at the wide variety of residents living in Abu Dhabi. “I’m sure that Pearls by Michael Caines will be a buzzing hub where people mix, mingle and do business during the day and indulge in relaxing times with friends in the evening,” said Caines of the atmosphere.
The restaurant’s home, Jumeirah at Etihad Towers, merges the best of resort and city stays, clinging to the beaches of the Arabian Gulf while steps away from the city’s buzz. The five-star stay includes 382 guest rooms and suites with Corniche and coastal views, as well as a Talise Spa, state-of-the-art conference centres and 12 restaurants and bars.
