Purobeach – Palma, Spain

A visit to Purobeach is a bit like walking into a model convention, or an MTV video from the late noughties – and the reality is not far from either. Back in spring 2004, a Swedish entrepreneur and founder of the Puro brand, Mats Wahlström, launched Puro Hotel in Palma de Mallorca, a project that he claimed reflected his own lifestyle. This inaugural Purobeach venue has now begat spin-offs in Marbella, Toscana, Dubai and Barcelona.

Nikki Beach – Miami, USA

Miami is no stranger to beach venues and bottle service but this cool club is notorious for its strict door policy. Minimum effort or no reservation? Go home. Since entrepreneur Jack Penrod launched the artsy, fashionista hotbed in 1998, the St. Tropez-esque venue has an array of raised loungers, lined with linen and segues into a pumping beach club when the night falls. Nikki venues can now be found in Koh Samui, Cabo San Lucas, Marrakech and the latest branch will arrive in Dubai this year before hitting Bodrum in 2017.

Beach Tree Bar – Four Seasons Resort, Hawaii, USA

Beach Tree Bar is by far the most laid back of the pack. Four Seasons properties can be everything on the spectrum of business and pleasure, but this barefoot alfresco grill is the antithesis of the boardroom. Just metres from the raw ocean, the high-ceilings beach bar is free of posers and pretensions and lets you enjoy the crashing waves and setting sun while you raise a glass to life. Apparently it’s all about the massive icy margaritas, the perfect digestif to a gluttonous grilled dinner.
