Beloved fictional pop icon Hello Kitty is celebrating her 40th anniversary at the first ever fan convention in LA. So what better way to make the pilgrimmage than with a stay at the official partner hotel, complete with new Hello Kitty rooms?
The Line Hotel may seem an unlikely partner, given its grungy boutique styling, but the property went all out to decorate a number of its rooms in pretty pastilles - and heaps of Hello Kitty merchandise.
Opening in parallel with Hello Kitty Con 2014, which runs from October 29 to November 2, The Line Hotel is now offering the Hello Kitty Super Sweet Stay Package, featuring rooms that infuse the super-cute character and offering complimentary items available for guests to take home after their stay including Hello Kitty robes, slippers and cushions.

A special Hello Kitty lounge has also been designed for all hotel guests to enjoy, which will was converted into a VIP room for Hello Kitty's invite-only official birthday party on Saturday November 1.
Additional promotions will include custom designed Hello Kitty x Linus bikes for guests to ride and curated Hello Kitty artworks within the hotel.
"Our collaboration with The Line Hotel offers a super fun extension of the Hello Kitty Con fan experience," said Jill Koch, SVP of brand management and marketing at Sanrio – owners of the Hello Kitty Brand.
"For a limited time, Hello Kitty will be infused into several elements of the hotel as part of Hello Kitty's 40th Anniversary celebration. We anticipate local fans as well as those visiting from all over the world to enjoy these exclusive Hello Kitty packages," added Koch.
Hello Kitty rooms are stocked with branded amenities
The character first appeared on a vinyl coin purse in Japan in 1974 and was brought to the US in 1976. By 2010, Hello Kitty had become a $5 billion a year brand. The 40-year-old Hello Kitty is now worth $7 billion a year - all without any direct advertising.
