The multi-year transformation of the Island Shangri-La Hotel, Hong Kong has unveiled a newly renovated Shangri-La Suite. Spanning 222sqm, the two-bedroom Shangri-La Suite is as inviting as it is expansive. The space is a masterclass in modern chinoiserie. From the flexible layout that can be reconfigured for special events, to the décor, which showcases a collage of vintage, modern, and global influences – from hand-tufted rugs, woven wall coverings and opulent hand-blown crystal chandeliers to art selected from Shangri-La’s extensive collection. Primed with special lighting, ceiling-mounted speakers, perimeter hanging rails and furniture, the space can be reconfigured for many different events.

The suite welcomes guests into an elegant foyer with picture windows framing the views of Victoria Harbour and the city’s iconic landmarks. Moving from the sitting room with its eight-metre long landscape mural – a modern take on ancient guó huà Chinese paintings, guests will arrive at the dining room, defined by its whimsical and vibrant garden theme – a nod to Hong Kong’s tropical landscape. The master bedroom with its chinoiserie floral woven wall coverings has a Haute Couture feel with an expansive his and hers dressing area. There is a second ensuite bedroom and a third guest room can be added by request. A butler is on hand for all guest requests, and the hotel’s dining options are available in-suite. The Michelin-starred Executive Chef of Petrus is on hand to create in-suite Chef Tables with bartenders available to pair drinks. The Shangri-La Suite also boasts its own wine cellar with the hotel’s sommelier on hand to curate.
