Belmond’s Villa Sant’Andrea is rich in history. Built in the early 20th century by an aristocratic British family, it was converted into a hotel in 1950. The hotel is one of a handful of properties that boast a private beach overlooking the Bay of Mazzarò, allowing Belmond to debut its first ever beach club concept. Lido Villeggiatura will offer guests an intimate beach escape. A mid-century modern aesthetic, set against the backdrop of the Mediterranean, will feature 1950’s style white-and-blue striped sun loungers and chic beach umbrellas. Local touches include a bar counter featuring straw fabrics and lava stone tiles from Mount Etna as well as merletto lace cushions, typical of the island. The vibrant club will offer privacy in its six cabanas with a dedicated butler service and alfresco lunches served by the beach.

With a motto of ‘From Dusk Till Dawn’, a dedicated beach concierge will arrange everything from water sports to wellness activities. Tide-to-table gastronomy will be served at Brizza, where the chef will curate a culinary experience for eight tables only. Celebrating the typical Sicilian sense of community, on Sundays, ‘Villeggiatura’ game sessions will offer guests the opportunity to play cards and board games with family and friends as Italians do, while DJs and live music will set the evening vibe for sundowners and seafood barbecues. Guests will also have access to Lido Villeggiature’s private boat, the Apreamare Gozzo 35, perfect for exploring the surrounding nature reserve and destinations such as Isola Bella, Aci Trezza and Siracusa with a customised itinerary.
