Ever wanted to feel like a billion dollars? Well, now is your chance with the news that W Sydney is now open for business. Set within the upscale district of The Ribbon overlooking Darling Harbour, the mega-hotel consists of some 588 guestrooms, including 162 suites making it the largest property on W Hotels’ worldwide portfolio.
Described as ‘A Beacon of Bold Design’ by owners Marriott, the luxe yet unconventional interiors draw inspiration from Sydney’s history, spirit, and lore with ‘the larrikin’ – a boisterous Australian character who disregards social conventions – the main theme throughout.

Guests are welcomed by a Waratah flower-inspired W sign before passing through a copper-clad entrance that pays homage to Sydney’s disused railway tunnels. The hotel’s harbourside location is mirrored in guestrooms’ designs with nautical whites and navy blues adorning undulating walls representing the sails of yachts in the marina below. The W Mixbar in every room, enables guests to shake up a concoction of their own before heading to bed or heading out.
On the cuisine scene, four new dining and bar venues are set out over three levels. BTWN, led by head chef Chris Dodd, embraces New South Wales’ local produce during the day, before turning the tables from evening to offer sweet treats at 2AM: dessertbar. For those gastronomes who enjoy Pan-Asian food, Living Room serves up small Asian bites as well as Sake and Soju from a vivid blue space replete with an electric blue circular bar and nest-like seating.

Double-level bar 29/30 continues the wow factor with stunning vistas of Sydney. Level 29 is the spot for tapas dishes and cocktails but if you want to take your night to another level, nautical designs and vintage Champagnes lie in wait at Level 30.
W Hotel signatures of Away Spa and WET Deck provide a change of pace for those looking to re-energise and revitalise.

Craig Seaward, GM of W Sydney, says the hotel is reimagining luxury for Sydneysiders and visitors to Australia’s Harbour City. “It’s a complete departure from the city’s traditional hotels and this unique W spirit is something you feel at every touchpoint, from our eclectic venues to the cool blue rooms and high energy programming. I can’t think of a better location for our new W hotel than Sydney’s amazing harbour. We can’t wait to welcome guests again and again.”
