Nothing says “'90s high-fashion” like a Victoria’s Secret Angel in a tube top dress, standing on a Mercedes-Benz in a mirage of graphics. “Digitally-imagined” clouds, blue skies, and pretty pink flowers emblemize the fabulous, future-facing hybrid of style and sustainability that is Mercedes’ newest eco-friendly SUV.
This kind of pop-icon imagery is to be expected when veteran stylist Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele (CCD) is involved, the French fashion creative who’s styled every A-list celebrity imaginable for publications like Elle and Lucky, including the very first cover of Vogue US that Anna Wintour was at the helm of.
It doesn’t hurt having Dutch supermodel Doutzen Kroes adding an elevated dose of star power to the Mercedes-Benz GLC 350 e 4MATIC - an SUV that boasts state-of-the-art performance, modern luxury and impeccable design. The synergy that Kroes, an environmentally conscious mother-of-two, has with the Plug-In Hybrid Mercedes is symbolically playful:
“Not only wonderful appearance but also sustainable consciousness connects Doutzen Kroes and the Mercedes-Benz GLC Plug-In Hybrid in our new fashion campaign “Hybrid by Nature”. Both are representing sustainability which is never flat or moralizing, but part of the spirit of our lifestyle and our understanding of modern luxury. Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele shows both characters in inimitable manner in an exclusive and glamorous way” says Dr. Jens Thiemer, Vice President Marketing Mercedes-Benz Cars.
Mercedes is well accustomed to high fashion, as it’s devotion to the sector spans 20 years of sponsorship to over 50 platforms including Fashion Weeks all over the globe, from Beijing to Moscow to Madrid. Marking the 17th campaign that Carlyne’s styled for the eminent luxury car brand.
On-set, Cerf de Dudzeele explained her inspiration: “Eco-friendly doesn’t always have to be boring, it can be luxurious. I think that having Doutzen, Mercedes-Benz and all of us working together is luxurious, glamorous and this is what I adore.”
Keep an eye out this year for the earth loving, family-friendly Merecdes-Benz SUV on the road; scantily clad Doutzen appearing from blue skies not included.
