Just one year after opening, Il Sereno Lago di Como has been awarded a Michelin star for its signature restaurant Berton al Lago. The lakeside restaurant specialises in modern Italian fare inspired by the region, created under the expert guidance of multi award-winning chef Andrea Berton, who flaunts a constellation of four Michelin stars for his three restaurants in Milan.

Think fresh fish plucked straight from the lake; risotto from nearby Pianura Padana; and wines, cheeses and meats from the mountains of Valtellina.

Executive chef Raffaele Lenzi, who counts Bulgari in Milan and Rossellini’s in Ravello among his previous posts, oversees the kitchen, creating dishes with modern flair like lobster tails in peach and celery, or saffron risotto with Genovese ragout and mushroom powder.

Designed by Spanish architect Patricia Urquiola, the restaurant is an airy indoor-outdoor space, with contemporary interiors built around a central, feature staircase, opening up onto a lakeside terrace of Travetine stone and Venetian terrazzo, boasting picturesque views over Lake Como: the perfect setting for an al fresco lunch or romantic dinner.
