1. THEODENT 300 TOOTHPASTE: US $100
Have you ever arrived at your hotel suite after a draining long-haul flight only to realise that you’ve left your toothpaste at home? Well, with a hefty US $100 price tag, a tube of Theodent 300 just isn’t that easy to forget.
The luxury toothpaste promises to re-mineralise your tooth enamel by combining a number of minty-fresh ingredients, neglecting the most commonly used oral chemical Fluoride and replacing it, instead, with the company’s patented (and pricey) ingredient Rennou – a derivative of the cocoa bean. Theodent 300 is the latest offering from the company and boasts an extra-strength serving of Rennou, but does it justify the extra-strength price tag?

2. BADER HASSOUN & SONS QATAR ROYAL SOAP: US $3,800
This is probably one for the hand luggage. The world’s most expensive soap – made from pure gold dust, virgin honey and diamond powder – was unveiled by Bader Hassoun & Sons at the Qatar Pool and Spa Exhibition last year in Doha, costing a staggering US $3,800 per 100-gram bar.
Created out of respect for the Arabic country’s royal family, the bar of Qatar Royal Soap was made as a one-off to showcase the luxury soap maker’s “capability for invention in soap making.” If you really want to get your hands on a bar, there’s no point working yourself into a lather, because the soap was never created for public sale.

3. REINAST TITANIUM TOOTHBRUSH: US $4,272
You didn’t really expect to be squeezing your US $100 Theodent 300 onto a normal toothbrush did you? The latest costly dental instrument from Reinast is widely considered the world’s most expensive toothbrush. Made from premium lightweight titanium, and claiming to plug the gap between aesthetic beauty and precision engineering, the brushing implement will set oral hygiene fanatics back a hefty US $4,272.
A protective antibacterial coating in the socket and a replaceable brush head are just two of the product’s unique selling points, which is available in champagne, rose and matte-black colour variations, as well as the standard titanium. Combine this brush with the Theodent toothpaste and you’ll quickly have the costliest dental care routine on the planet.

4. CLE DE PEAU BEAUTE ‘LA CRÈME’ MOISTURISER: US $13,000
At five times more expensive per gram than gold, Cle de Peau Beaute’s La Crème moisturiser would have even the most seasoned globetrotter investing in a travel safe. Created to mark the luxury beauty company’s 30th anniversary, the “lifting and tightening” product went on sale in 2012, with three special edition 50-gram versions boasting crystal/platinum containers retailing at a breath-taking US $13,000 per unit.
Despite only three of the special units going on sale, Cle de Peau Beaute enlisted the help of famed Mamma Mia actress Amanda Seyfried to face-up the campaign, something which she has been doing ever since.

5. ZAFIRRO IRIDIUM SAPPHIRE-BLADED RAZOR: US $100,000
Avoid the nips and cuts of your disposable travel razor and invest, instead, in the Zafirro Iridium – a sapphire-bladed shaver that has an estimated lifespan of more than a decade. But this is a very real investment. Priced at US $100,000, the razor is likely to cost more than the flight you just disembarked and the suite you are about to enter. It could even cost more than your car.
With only 99 units initially available, the razor is a limited edition special and, according to Zafirro, the shaving implement’s astronomical cost is all down to its construction. It is made from iridium, a metal ten times more rare than platinum, usually reserved for rocket engine parts where durability is key. The razor’s solid white sapphire blades – although extremely sharp and hypoallergenic – also do nothing for the price. Unfortunately, the razor is currently out of stock, although the company are still taking direct enquiries.
