Africa’s leading conservation and hospitality brand, Singita, has unveiled its revamped founding lodge, Singita Ebony, in South Africa’s Sabi Sand Nature Reserve. Redesigned by renowned interior designers Cécile & Boyd, the refreshed space prioritises the whims of the modern traveller, breathing new life into the traditional safari experience. A mix of old and new is prevalent throughout the interiors, where utilitarian furniture sits alongside simple sofas and armchairs and contemporary African art is the perfect paradox to chandeliers and vintage traveller chests.

As the brand’s matriarchal lodge, the design incorporates antiques and heirlooms central to Ebony’s identity. Colours and textures take cues from their natural surroundings, blending natural fabrics, timber elements and canvas details. At the centre of the main guest area is a new Conservation Room, where on interactive displays, guests can learn more about the history of Singita, the biodiversity of the region and the inspiring work of the Singita Lowveld Trust.

The wine cellar has been moved, leading onto a deck overlooking the Sand River, and a signature bar/deli fridge, giving guests easy access to snacks and drinks throughout the day has been added. A new informal lounge provides a warm and homely space with a TV, a well-stocked library, board games, cards and puzzles, where guests can relax.
