Kempinski Hotels has taken over management of the Riviera Maya luxury hotel formerly known as The Ritz-Carlton, Cancun. The beachfront property will operate as Grand Hotel Cancun managed by Kempinski until the end of 2022, while cosmetic changes are made to bring the property in line with Kempinski brand standards. After that, it will relaunch as Kempinski Hotel Cancun, becoming the fifth Kempinski-flagged hotel in the Americas.
Situated on a 400-metre beach in Cancun’s lively Hotel Zone, the resort is home to 315 rooms and 48 suites, all with private balconies offering Caribbean views. Eight dining options include two AAA Five Diamond Award restaurants and the hotel is home to two swimming pools, a club lounge, kids club and a spa and fitness centre with relaxation gardens and outdoor terraces.

The hotel also becomes part of KEMPINSKI DISCOVERY, the Global Hotel Alliance (GHA) loyalty programme with its own digital currency and unique Live Local destination experiences. Currently, guests can earn and spend DISCOVERY Dollars (D$) on room bookings only, but the programme will soon expand to include dining experiences and spa treatments and give members the chance to gift D$ to friends and family, or donate to charitable causes.
