London will always bring back childhood memories of playing Monopoly in front of the fire with a hot chocolate over the festive period. Without realising, it gave me an appreciation for London; all its communities, its hotels and its real estate; the tumultuous board game that we spent hours playing, instilled a wonder of the bustling metropolis in me. Happily landing on Park Lane and without ‘Passing Go’, I proceed to check into the COMO Metropolitan London.

Launched in 1997 as the brand’s second London outpost, the COMO Metropolitan London is a harmonious blend of contemporary minimalism and timeless luxury. Nuzzled in between Hyde Park, Shepherd Market and Knightsbridge, the property offers the perfect combination for all travellers, no matter if it’s for business or pleasure.

Perched on the 12th floor, the Park Suite is a spacious, 47 square-metre Corner Suite, with the bedroom boasting a small balcony with uninhibited views of the park and London Eye. The suites are designed to provide both comfort and functionality, with a large writing desk, state-of-the-art technology and an inviting king-size bed, draped in the finest linens. The luxurious marble bathrooms are equipped with deep soaking tubs, rain showers and COMO Shambhala bath amenities, offering a soothing escape after a day spent exploring the city. Lazily lounging on the sofa, I explore the hotel’s offerings on the in-room iPad and with the click of a button, I begin to explore the spa.

The COMO Shambhala Spa is an unparalleled retreat for those seeking rejuvenation and renewal. With a calming atmosphere and holistic approach to wellness, the spa offers a wide array of treatments designed to balance the mind, body and spirit. Bestowed with a stunning design, the spa is a tranquil sanctuary, with soft lighting, natural wood finishes and an air of serenity that immediately puts guests at ease. Electing for the 60-minute COMO Shambhala Signature Massage, I am greeted with a glass of copper infused water as my therapist, Entzi, goes through the consultation. Inspired by traditional therapies from around the world, the spa menu features signature treatments using its own line of luxurious products. I opt for the Invigorate Body Oil, a fusion of eucalyptus and peppermint, and proceed to the therapy room for a treatment that left me floating on a cloud of calmness.

No visit to the property would be complete without a trip to the hotel’s William Curley Chocolatier outlet, a hidden gem for connoisseurs of fine chocolate. Four-time winner of Best British Chocolatier, his creations have achieved global recognition for its bold flavour palettes and fine craftmanship. These decadent creations are an indulgent treat to be enjoyed in the hotel’s elegant lounge or brought home to savour later. The collection includes everything from smooth truffles infused with exotic flavours to delicate pralines, each crafted with the finest ingredients and a touch of culinary innovation. I am told on occasion, William can be seen delivering the chocolates to the outlet himself. These small details from the conceptualisation to the making of the chocolate and even delivering by hand himself, are just some of the reasons that make this outlet stand out.
With its impeccable design, ultra-luxe amenities and commitment to service, the hotel stands as a beacon of refined elegance and modern luxury in London. Whether you’re relaxing in one of the Corner Suites, unwinding at the Como Shambhala Spa or tucking into the delectable creations of William Curley, this hotel ensures that every aspect of your stay will be nothing short of exceptional.
For those who seek a lavish escape in the heart of London, COMO Metropolitan London is the definitive destination of quality. It is a place where art, design and luxury converge to create a truly unforgettable experience.
