VPLP KOMOREBI
Drawing from a mood board of Zen locales, sleek design and saturated cerulean waters, VPLP’s latest concept, Komorebi, is inspired by the Japanese word that translates to a “concept representing the time when nature is enhanced by the sun’s rays”. Harmonising with the environment, the vast, open spaces on board the hybrid sailing-power trimaran are replete with natural touches with plots of greenery, a pool shaded by the foliage of a tree and flora-inspired elements that recall a tangle of branches.

An abundance of floor-to-ceiling glass windows allow the sun’s natural light to permeate living spaces and dining areas, although it’s more likely guests will spend their time taking advantage of the great outdoors in tranquil lagoons – an impressively shallow draught allows the vessel to enter even the smallest hideaways despite her size – with sea kayaks, paddle boards and windsurfing gear among myriad water toys and tenders on hand. But should the day dawn with a more tempestuous mood, there’s always the option to retreat to the on-board spa, cinema, gym and hammam. If there’s one problem the passengers of Komorebi will face, it’s simply deciding on where and how to spend their time.

FEADSHIP VANISH
Vanishing might be a little easier said than done in this vessel, which not only sprawls more than 66 metres in length, but also possesses a bold nameplate that glows neon blue at night on its exterior. Launched in what was described as a “rock ‘n’ roll ceremony” in January, Vanish lives up to its flashy entrée with plenty of outstanding features, such as a full-height atrium with a free-standing staircase, and a teak-covered extendable balcony from the owner’s stateroom that slides out and locks in place flush with the cabin’s floor. But following the owner’s wishes to keep the sea easily accessible, an innovative transom may be the highlight.

Sloping up gently from the swimming platform to the aft, a stepped design allows intimate contact with the water while downplaying the ship’s intimidating size when arriving via tender or from a swim. Within the steel and aluminium structure, all the mod cons and water sports accessories that one would expect on board an exceptional superyacht are present and correct – in addition to not one but two helipads – along with four guest suites and a VIP stateroom that has the ability to convert into an additional two guest suites. Vanish? Unlikely. But why would you want to hide away this achievement of marine travel anyway?
